REGOLAMENTO DEL CONCORSO IX Edizione del Concorso Pianistico Internazionale Franz Liszt - Premio Mario Zanfi
Art. 1 – The 9th Competition for piano players will take place in Parma from 17th October to 22nd October 2011.
Candidates are admitted only if they have submitted the regular entrance form. The order of admittance will be
established according to the postmark date.
Art. 2 – Age limit – The competition is open to all piano players without age limits.
Art. 3 – Procedure – The Competition consist of three stages: the programme must be chosen following the
“programme of the tests” (see below)
1) the first, preliminary stage, wich will be held behind closed doors;
2) the second, semifinal, public, for candidates (from 8 to 10 candidates) who have passed the preliminary
3 ) the third – final – in this stage will be admitted three candidates and will consist in a public concert with
the Teatro Regio Symphonic Orchestra; in this occasion finalists will receive the awards.
Art. 4 – The candidates are required to be present at the Conservatory of Parma the day before the beginning of the
Competition (16th October 2011) at 11:00 am with a valid document (i.d. or passport). The order in wich candidates
will be called shall be drawn at the beginning of the preliminary round and maintained throught the public stage.
Art. 5 – Applications – The applications for the Competition must to be sent:

as specified in the enclosed entrance form, and must reach the Conservatory within 30th August 2011.
Applications must enclose: a photocopy of identity card, two photographs, a short curriculum vitae in Italian or English
(studies, teachers, activities performed), documented proof of the payment of the application fee, and a detailed list of
the programme chosen for each round.
Application and document requested must be complete as specified above; if not the candidate will not be enrolled to
the competition.

Art. 6 – The applications fee of 100,00 Euros (one hundred/00 Euros) must to be payed to the following bank account
within 30th August 2011

The application fee will not be refunded in any case.
Art. 7 – Board of examiners – The Board of examiners will consist in seven members, three of wich Italians
(as stated in Maestro Mario Zanfi’s testament: the Director of the Conservatory “Arrigo Boito” as
President, Maestro Azio Corghi, and another member to be designated) and four foreigners
whose names will be disclosed to the public before the Competition. In case of unavailability of the designated members
the Director of Conservatory will appoint a substitute.
The internal rules lay down the procedures to be followed by the Board.
The decisions of the Board of examiners are final and irrevocable.
Art. 8 – Prizes – Three Competition prizes shall be awarded: the first prize is 8.000,00 Euros (eight thousand/00
Euros), second prize is 4.000,00 Euros (four thousand/00 Euros), and the third prize is
2.000,00 Euros (Two thousand/00 Euros).
All finalists will be offered, by the Board, opportunities in important concertistic istitutions.
Art. 9 – The Board of examiners reserves the right to decide if any prize or all be awarded. No “ex
aequo” results are admitted. All candidates admitted to the second round (semifinal) will receive a diploma
for their partecipation.
Art. 10 – The public performance and the final concert may be radio/telecast or recorded for any future
use by the organizers without the entitlement to any compensation.
Art. 11 – By partecipating in the competition the candidates declare to accept all conditions set down in
these rules.
These rules are drawn up in two languages (Italian and English). In case of discrepancies, the Italian
version shall prevail.
